Summary: The article highlights the main methods of teaching, assessing students` knowledge and teaching in general, which are used in higher education institutions in Poland, namely at the University of Economics in Krakow. The purpose, internship as a form of professional development of teachers is defined. New and innovative teaching methods used in higher education institutions around the world, in particular in the United States and Great Britain, are described. The essence of the interactive game Kahoot is revealed, which gives an opportunity to conduct online surveys of students in order to facilitate their assessment.
