Summary: This study analyzes fashion as a symbol of social hierarchy and its role in shaping the philosophy of consumption in mass culture. Based on the case study method, fashion is presented as a social mechanism for establishing symbolic boundaries between social groups, which, through visual self-expression, balances the opposing tendencies of imitation and differentiation in social hierarchies. The study emphasizes the importance of fashion as a tool for self-identification and integration into mass culture, allowing people to feel both unique and part of a social group. Fashion’s ability to reflect social changes and social structures emphasizes its importance in the philosophy of consumption. The results confirm the role of fashion as a mechanism for maintaining social order and integration, as well as a tool for understanding contemporary transformations in consumer practices and social interactions.
