Summary: The retrospective analysis of approaches to the formation of lingua-socio-cultural competence of students of economic specialties is made in the article. The problem of modern methods of teaching foreign languages is analyzed. The essence of the concept of "lingua-socio-cultural competence” is determined, its structural and component composition is analyzed, and requirements for forming of lingua-socio-cultural competence of students of higher educational institutions are made. The analysis of scientific works makes it possible to conclude on the actuality and practical importance of forming of lingua-socio-cultural competence of future economists. It is determined that on the basis of the systematic set of competences the formation of lingua-socio-cultural competence is formed. Future specialists who possess lingua-socio cultural competence are better adapted to the conditions of multicultural dialogue in the current global processes. The main component in the process of studying of a professionally oriented language is the use of materials taken from the life of native speakers or formed with regard to the characteristics of their culture. The use of materials that are interesting for students purpose fully creates a strong interest in learning a foreign language as a source of new information in a specialty, changes the idea and attitude of students to a foreign language, creates an urgent need for mastering it.
