Аннотація: Investment is one of the key determinants of the economic development of any state, thanks to attracting investments there is an increase in the level of well-being of the population and improvement in the quality of life. By providing systematic updating and expanded reproduction of productive capital, they help to accelerate scientific and technological progress, improve the quality of products and services provided and increase the ability to operate effectively and in a balanced manner all sectors of the economy. Ukraine is sufficiently integrated into the world economy, and disruption of macroeconomic stability in foreign markets has some consequences for our country, it is still attractive for the foreign investment. Investors need certain prerequisites to invest in the Ukrainian economy: a high index of investment attractiveness, forecasts for the future, a valuation as to the previous period and the current state. Ukraine`s economy is gradually coming out of the protracted crisis, overcoming the depressed 2012-2013 and the crisis of 2014-2015. Starting from 2016 and in 2018-2019 it has been showing positive trends of economic growth, which are reflected in the gradual growth of the country’s GDP. The article analyzes the structure of foreign direct investment in Ukraine by type of economic activity, the structure of capital investment in Ukraine, by sources of financing and other indicators of investment activity. Analysis of the structure of foreign direct investment in the economy of Ukraine from other countries of the world showed that more than 70% of the total investment comes from EU countries and about 30% of investment comes from other countries of the world. To further improve the investment climate of Ukraine, the problem to be solved today is improving the legal and organizational framework for enhancing the capacity of mechanisms for ensuring a favorable investment climate, forming the basis for preserving and improving the competitiveness of the domestic economy. The necessary conditions for attracting foreign direct investment in Ukraine are political, economic and financial stability, investment guarantees, improvement of legislative acts on the investment activity regulation and general improvement of the investment climate.
