Summary: The article analyzes the approaches to distinguishing the categories of newspaper texts, reveals the concept of "media linguistics", "media text" taking into account the genre and style features. Particular attention is paid to the journalistic style, which is characterizedby high subjectivity and close personal connection between the author of the text, the text itself and the recipient. It is established that information and text are usually not identified, because everyone perceives the information covered in the same text differently. It has been observed that modern mass media are more and more clearly influencing the consciousness of the modern recipient.
