Summary: The article examines the political doctrine and legal basis for the ettlement of the national question in the First Czechoslovak Republic in the period from 1918 to 1938. Analyzes the political doctrines that were created during the liberation struggle of the Czechs and Slovaks in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It was found that the unification of the Czech and Slovak political programs was significantly complicated by the differences between the Czech and Slovak national liberation movements. It has been proven that Czechoslovak legislation provided national minorities with ample opportunities for comprehensive cultural development.
