Summary: The evolution of approaches to the definition of the category of sustainable development and the provision of food security in the context of the growing influence of globalization processes is presented. It has been shown that agriculture is directly related to the achievement of most sustainable development goals. It was investigated that innovation and investment development in the agrarian sector of Ukraine is accompanied by a multidisciplinary approach: on subjects and objects of investment, as well as on terms of return on investments and levels of effect. A comparison of trends of Ukraine`s gross domestic product with capital investments into the Ukrainian economy has been made and a reduction in capital investment in the short term and a further reduction in the share of capital investment in GDP. It is proved that constructive changes in the accumulation and efficient allocation of investment resources can be achieved in case of correction of existing approaches and the current mechanism for managing innovation and investment development.
